CEO, Scott Perry is a laid back kind of guy. He’s a self proclaimed “people
person” and is really easy to talk to. “I like to simply see people smile and
enjoy life. I’m a leader by nature but usually I like to play the background,
orchestrate and watch my work unfold” says the Philadelphia native. Perry
also said, “I feel as though, what we (SPEMG) bring to the table is
necessary.” Perry a.k.a. SP, grew up with music in his veins. His uncles were
members of the legendary 70's R&B group Blue Magic who had a hit single
called “Sideshow”. Both his mother and father were also singers and got their
children into playing instruments at early ages. SP himself plays the bass and
drums and even produced tracks in the early SPEMG days. He knew he
wanted to be an entrepreneur and run his own business; however he did not
know what the venture would be. SP does admit that it was his little brother
(Shotime) who convinced him to start his own label. SP was unaware of his
younger sibling’s lyrical talent until he stumbled across a DVD entitled UFC:
Underground Freestyle Champion. He immediately recognized the raw talent
of Shotime and began promoting him. Shotime became the first artist officially
signed to SPEMG. I asked SP, if he could sign any artist(s) past or present
who would it be? “Shotime, because he’s the total package, he can capture
and control the crowd without having a record on the air. He’s constantly
reinventing himself and looking to improve, so if I could sign ‘ANY’ artist it
would still be him” he replied.
